Time to sign up for broadcast email training
As part of the Interactive Media Initiative, U.Va. has contracted centrally with an outside vendor, Kintera, Inc., to provide broadcast email services for members of the University community who need to email large groups of external constituents such as alumni and friends.

The new broadcast email tool will be integrated with BSR Advance, our primary alumni and donor database, to make it easy to apply individuals' email opt-in and opt-out preferences and to update Advance with failed addresses. This is a free service for groups and units within the University community. It is ideal for sending individual announcements and invitations to segments of our alumni population, for emailing previously established lists of people interested in an area of the University, and for managing periodic email newsletters to subscribers. This new service will allow targeting of content to groups within the receiver list, and enhanced reporting options.

To help us put together the roll-out and training plan for the new broadcast email tool, we need to identify those individuals and entities within the University community who would like to use this service. If you would like to be in the queue for a broadcast email account and training, please fill out the online Broadcast Email Account Request form. Those in the pilot group who have used the Kintera broadcast email tool with the assistance of Cinda Ewing in Arts & Sciences should also complete the form to receive training about updates to the system.

If you have questions about the training, please contact Barbara Boatman, our lead trainer on this project, at imi-consult@virginia.edu. Once your Broadcast Email Request form has been received, Barbara will contact the designated person(s) in your department to review the tool and set up a roll out plan with training.
