Class Notes now in HoosOnline
HoosOnline now allows alumni to read and post personal news using a new class notes feature. From the public version of the site, available to everyone, visitors can search class notes submitted by a particular person, or from everyone in a given graduation year, city, etc. The notes are displayed individually along with the person's name, school and class year. The premium version of class notes -- available only to registered HoosOnline alumni who have logged in -- also includes the person's full HoosOnline directory listing that includes contact information and other details. To post a class note, alumni must log in to HoosOnline.
To launch the class notes feature, the HoosOnline team loaded approximately 75 notes that were submitted earlier this year in conjunction with Reunions 2005. To get a good look at how the class notes work, try searching 1980 or 1985 on the "year graduated" field on the search page.
Class notes posted at HoosOnline also are captured for possible use in the Virginia alumni magazine. During the submission process, alumni indicate whether the magazine has permission to publish the note.
Links to the class notes are now included on the HoosOnline home page and in the left-hand navigation bar throughout the site. We will begin publicizing the class notes feature in January.
